Ronald E. Bubb, 55, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died April 10, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 2, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Eldon and Marlys Bubb. He and his wife, Marilyn, were married on May 15, 1976. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents, Eldon (and Clara) Bubb of Sierra Vista and Marlys Whitman of Minong, Wis.; two daughters, Tammy (and Scott) Chadwick of Monroe, Ga., and Elizabeth Bubb of Palestine, Texas; three brothers, Richard L. (and Bonnie) Bubb of Albuquerque, N.M., Barry D. (and Lori) Bubb of Minong and Terry W. (and Marion) Bubb of South Range, Wis.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one infant brother, Timothy Bubb, and his stepfather, Leroy Whitman.

He was a 1963 graduate of Astoria High School.

He spent 30 years in the Navy. He was a corpsman for 10 years and hospital administrator for the next 20 years.

He retired Sept. 30, 1992, with the rank of commander. He served in Vietnam, where he received numerous medals.

He obtained two bachelor of arts degrees and a master's degree.

He was a member of the Huachuca Duffers and an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9972 in Sierra Vista. He was also the state judge advocate for the VFW, working toward state commander.

He was instrumental in getting work started on the new Veterans Administration Cemetery to be built in Sierra Vista.

Memorial services were held April 12 at the VFW Post #9972. Interment will be at the new Veterans Cemetery when it is completed. Hatfield Funeral Home Inc. in Sierra Vista was in charge of arrangements.
