SOLOMON BAIR

VeteranSolomon Bair

Was born in Adams county, Pa., June 5, 1843, and died at his home in Fulton county, Ill., Jan. 16, 1903, aged 59 years, seven months and eleven days. He was married to Elizabeth Myers in 1866. To this union were born four boys and three girls, of whom five remain to prepare for that future reunion. Bro. Bair was a faithful member of the St. John's Reformed church of Astoria, and was present at the last communion service held.

He also served his country faithfully as a soldier in the Civil war.

The funeral services were held at the Salem chapel, west of Astoria, Jan. 18, at 10:30 a.m. There was a very large congregation of friends present. Bro. Bair's pastor, Rev. R. R. Lackey, preached the sermon on the text, 1 Cor. 15. 19. The L. F. McCrellis Post No. 353 G. A. R. was present and together with several Post boys from Vermont, marched to the church and at the conclusion of the sermon, concluded the services at the Salem cemetery with beautiful ceremonies.
