Leo ArnettLeo D. Arnett, 88, of rural Lewistown died at 9 a.m. May 21, 2013, at his home.

He was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Liverpool Township, Fulton County, the son of Harley and Garnett Harrison Arnett. He married Helen Courtney on May 9, 1949, in Petersburg, Va. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Roger L. Arnett of Lewistown and Charles L. Arnett of Peoria; two sisters, Fern Mears of Ohio and Bernita Hand of Colorado; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson and two sisters.

He was a lifelong farmer.

He served in the United States Army in 1949.

He was a member of Lewistown First Presbyterian Church, Fulton County Farm Bureau, Lewistown Lodge 104 AF & AM and Lewistown Optimist Club. He had served as president of Fulton County Pork Producers Association that he helped to form and had served on the board for Spoon River Electric Co-op. He was a pilot and a member of Flying Farmers Club. He was a 50-year member of American Bowling Association.

Services were held Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Danie deBeer officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
